Whether a person is writing fiction (for any age) or creative non-fiction, thinking about your characters, making sure they’re interesting and dynamic, is always important. So this week, the writer-in-residence program features a Saturday afternoon session about Character Building. (Check the Events page.)
One of the places we draw inspiration when we create a character is our own lives. A favourite writing quote reflects this:
Writers aren’t exactly people. Or if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying to be one person.
–F. Scott Fitzgerald
Come join my on Saturday at 1 p.m. at GPPL as we figure out how to tap into all those inner personalities, and generally how to create memorable characters.
